Job Overview
The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA), under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist and the Director of Nursing, performs patient care as directed by way of a written plan of care and in accordance with state practice guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Treatment Implementation: Provide therapeutic treatments and rehabilitation interventions, such as ADLs (bathing, dressing), range-of-motion, and functional strengthening, following the established plan of care.
Documentation & Reporting: Document patient progress and submit therapy notes and charges accurately within established timeframes, reporting changes to the supervising OT.
Patient/Family Education: Instruct patients and caregivers in home exercise programs, safety awareness, and the proper use of adaptive equipment.
Safety & Equipment: Evaluate the home environment for safety hazards and assist in training for adaptive devices to improve function.
Collaboration: Participate in care coordination and communicate with the interdisciplinary team regarding patient progress.
Requirements:
Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university
Current Occupational Therapy Assistant Certification (COTA) in the state of Indiana
2+ years experience working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
Ability to drive up to 30 minutes minimum for scheduled client shifts
In-person CPR certification via the American Red Cross or Heart Association (*can be provided on-site if needed, at cost)
TB test within the past 12 months (*can be provided on-site if needed, at cost)
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, vehicle insurance, and registration
Perform routine duties independent of supervision but consults with others as required.
Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Home Health experience
Experience using AXXESS EMR
Strong technology skills; proficiency with Apple devices and applications
Schedule:
Monday-Friday (Weekend availability)
Part-Time: 16-29 visits per week
Full-Time: 30-35 visits per week
Pay:
$50 per visit
Mileage reimbursement at the current agency rate, one way
